Aleks is an NSF GRFP Fellow and a Ph.D. candidate at MIT in mechanical engineering. Aleks's major is automation of mechanical systems using vision and machine learning. He is a designer of both algorithms and hardware. His research focuses on integrating software and hardware systems to drive high-throughput discovery and optimization of sustainable energy materials, such as perovskite semiconductors and fusion metal alloys.
Aleks is one of the inventors of Archerfish, a high-throughout robotic printer capable of synthesizing thousands of unique materials per minute. To further accelerate the throughput of his hardware, Aleks designs novel algorithms including machine learning optimization, computer vision, inverse design, and control software. When Aleks isn’t building algorithms or hardware, he is doing acroyoga in Killian Court or skiing the nearby mountains.
